Steve was born and raised in Caroline County in the small town of Federalsburg, MD. His love for the outdoors was passed on to him at an early age. When he was just six years old he began hunting with his father, Steve Faulkner, Sr, and received his Hunter's Safety Certificate at the age of nine. He has been an avid hunter since then.
Aside from the thrill of hunting, Steve takes pride in being able to reduce the monthly grocery bill and stock the family freezer. And it isn't just hunting.
Fishing is another long-time passion, but the introduction to snakehead fishing, and kayak fishing, encouraged Steve to pursue new adventures. After discovering the joy he felt helping others succeed in hunting and fishing he decided to chase a dream and ORC Outdoors was started.
Steve currently resides in Denton with his wife, Cindy. Together they have a large blended family which includes (3) daughters, (2) sons and (4) grandchildren.
Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.” The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”
Acts 10:13, 15
She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Proverbs 31:27
LADIES ... It's hunting season .... LET HIM HUNT ... It's good for mental health, it saves on grocery bills and it's scripturally supported.
I admit, I used to be one of those women who would inwardly complain about the whole hunting process, even though I grew up with a family that hunted. For me, when I was younger, hunting season (specifically deer season) was a time when my grandmother got up early to make sticky buns and my uncles and cousins were at the house every Saturday. But when I got married, hunting season meant my husband was absent and everything in the house was my responsibility.
As I have grown in age and maturity, and drawn closer to God, my perspectives have changed. Steve is a hunter, and he is doing as God has commanded. He told Peter to get up, kill, and eat when he was hungry, and He commands men to provide for their household.
At the same time, He commands us as women to watch over the affairs of our household and NOT eat the bread of idleness.
So now, hunting season means that Steve is doing what God commanded him to do (by putting food on the table and providing food for others as well), and he's spending quiet time in the woods. And while he's doing that, it gives me time to get the house in order and have my own quiet time.
